Hartsville, S.C. — Four Coker College students will present workshops at the annual South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics Convention in Greenville, S.C. on October 21 and 22. Education majors Janna Burch, Kayla Grantham, Paige Parrott and Amanda Witt are the scheduled presenters.

Their workshop, “Genuine Problem Solving and Traditional Arithmetic: A False Dichotomy,” will be co-presented with education professor Dr. Joseph Rubinstein.

The workshop will help elementary school teachers understand how, through properly constructed instruction, modern mathematics can be taught without neglecting important traditional arithmetic.
