A native of Hartsville, S.C., Batchelor currently serves as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, a conservative, mission-minded church in Great Falls, S.C., that is in cooperation with the Chester Baptist Association, South Carolina Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2001, Batchelor was a Youth Minister at Chapel Hill Baptist in Hartsville, S.C., where he led the church youth on two summer mission trips and encouraged them to attend a summer camp called Summer Salt. After Batchelor finished seminary, he became an Associate Pastor at First Baptist in Bishopville, S.C., prior to assuming his current position in Great Falls. In addition to his church duties, Batchelor ran in the Bi-Lo Myrtle Beach Marathon on February 17, 2007, and finished 26.2 miles in 4 hours, 33 minutes. Batchelor has also served as assistant coach to Coach Brett Blackmon for the Great Falls High School baseball team. While at Coker, Batchelor was a two-sport star in baseball and cross country. He earned All-Conference and All-Tournament honors in baseball, was a two-time Academic All-Conference selection and was named Coker’s Academic Athlete of the Year in 2000.
