The Praxis II measures knowledge of specific subjects and general areas that K–12 educators will teach. South Carolina and most states use the Praxis tests to license new teachers. Fields is the second teacher education student at Coker College this year to earn a perfect score on the exam. She is advised by Dr. Susan Henderson, assistant professor of education and chair of Coker College’s education department. A resident of Hartsville, S.C., Fields is a senior in Coker College’s evening program and an employee of Aramark food services on campus. She has been a teacher assistant at schools in the Hartsville area. In the fall, Fields will begin student teaching second grade at Washington Street Elementary in Hartsville. Fields expects to graduate from Coker College in December 2010. She plans to earn a master’s degree while pursuing her teaching career. -30-
