Memorial & Belk Residence Halls

Susan Stout Coker Memorial Residence Hall was the College's first permanent dormitory, built in 1914. It is named in honor of the wife of college founder Major James Lide Coker. It also houses the Drawing Room, which is used for formal college functions.

Mary Irwin Belk Residence Hall was originally called Central Hall. It was added to Memorial Hall in 1915-16. It also houses the Office of Residence Life and the Private Dining Room, used for meetings.

Memorial and Belk are divided by The Porches. The entrance is Richardson Porch. Dunbar Porch, on the second floor, is a recreation lounge and Spivey Porch, on the third floor, is a quiet study lounge and home to Spivey Chapel.
