Mission StatementIt is the mission of Coker College Campus Safety to enhance the quality of life at Coker College by providing a safe and secure environment that is conducive to learning, and is consistent with the educational goals of this diverse institution, while building community partnerships that foster trust, mutual respect, and cooperation. Coker College Campus Safety strives to accomplish its mission while adhering to its core values of Professionalism, Integrity, Communication, Service, Respect, Loyalty and Duty. General InformationCoker is located in Hartsville, SC, a 1996 All-America City located in the northeastern region of the state. Greater Hartsville has a population of 28,000. Hartsville is 25 miles from air and rail service in Florence, SC, where I-95 and I-20 intersect. Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand are 90 miles away; Columbia, the state capital, is 75 miles away; and Charlotte, NC, is 80 miles away. Coker College's Fall 2009 enrollment is 1156 full- and part-time students in the Day and Evening programs. This includes a record Day Program enrollment of 665 students. Pass through Coker College's campus entrance and you find 15-acres of paths, lawns, trees and Georgian-style buildings - some of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. About Coker College Campus SafetyCoker College Campus Safety reports to the Vice President for Student & Enrollment Services and is responsible for the safety and security of the campus community. Campus Safety; provided by AlliedBarton, strives to provide a safe and secure environment while providing excellent customer service. They conduct patrols throughout the entire campus to include outline Coker properties and is available to assist the Coker community on a 24-hour basis. They are available to assist residents in reporting thefts, accidents, and fires. Additional services include providing emergency medical assistance, and late night escorts. Their office is located on the first floor of Belk Hall. Coker officers do not have arrest powers; however, work very close with Hartsville Police Department. Security can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:843-383-8140 (on-campus extension: 8140). They are trained in first-aid, CPR, and the use of the defibrillator.
