HARTSVILLE, SC - Coker knocked off Mt. Olive College 6-3 and 6-0 Saturday afternoon in collegiate softball.  The Cobras are 4-0 overall and in the CVAC, and the Trojans now stand at 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.  

Mt. Olive went ahead first in game one with a run in the first and two more in the second.  Coker got starter Amanda Shelton off the hook in the fourth inning with a five run explosion.  The Cobras added one more in the sixth to complete the scoring.

Senior Summer Joyner went 2-2 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and two walks to lead CC.  Kaylene Fountain went 2-4 with an RBI and sophomore Marie Mascio got a hit and a RBI. 

Shelton earned the win with four innings pitched, three earned runs allowed and three strikeouts.  Freshman Somer Bigham earned her second save with three innings of work, allowing no hits and striking out five.

In Game two the Cobras backed up a strong pitching performance from Fountain with 10 hits and seven runs.  Coker scored four in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. 

Marie Mascio powered the offense, going 2-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.  Senior Sheritha McKenzie went 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI and sophomore Ashley Altman went a perfect 3-3 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored.  Fountain allowed only four hits in the shutout and struck out six.

Coker returns to Saleby-Stokes Field on Sunday, February 22, for a 2:00 PM double-header against Lees-McRae.
