Bustamante's Four Goals Pace Cobras

Hartsville, SC – Coker finished its regular season on a high note Saturday, shutting out Mt. Olive College 6-0 in women’s collegiate soccer.  The Cobras dominated from start to finish and qualified for the CVAC Tournament for the first time in four years.  CC improves to 7-9 on the year and 4-6 in the conference, while the Trojans fall to 3-13 and 0-10 in the CVAC.

Senior Sara Lauzze got the Cobras out and running early, one-timing a pass from freshmen Alma Olvera into the back of the net for a quick 1-0 lead.  Freshmen Andrea Bustamante was the story from then on as she scored the next four Cobra goals on assists from seniors Jodi Rummel, Kristie Lowe, and freshmen Tammy Abrams.  Bustamante’s four tallies tied a Cobra record for most in a single game.

Freshmen Megan Shaver, Coker’s leading scorer, recorded the Cobras final goal late in the contest off an assist from freshmen Rose Fernandez.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacque Stewart played the full 90 minutes, recording five saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

The Cobras return to action Wednesday, November 5th, in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Tournament.  Opponents and times as of now are TBA.
