Cobras Show Improvement But Fall 5-1
Hartsville, SC – Coker came out flat in its conference match against Lees-McRae Saturday afternoon and paid for it in a 5-1 defeat in women’s collegiate soccer. The Cobras gave up two goals in the first 10 minutes and two more in the next 10 minutes in the loss. CC falls to 6-6 on the year and 3-4 in the conference, while the Bobcats move to 8-4-2 and 5-1-1 in the CVAC.
Heather Klaus scored a hat-trick for the Bobcats to lead the way. Meghan Bofenkamp scored in the ninth minute, and Natasha McIntosh scored in the 18th to complete the scoring for LMC. Freshman Megan Shaver scored her 13th goal of the season in the loss, finishing a cross from classmate Andrea Bustamante in the 59th minute.
Sophomore Jacque Stewart played the full 90 minutes with six saves in defeat. Anita Hekman made one save in the first half and Samantha Morgan played the second 45 for Lees-McRae.
The Cobras travel to face Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday, October 22 at 3:30 PM.
