Hartsville, SC – The Coker College women’s soccer team was unable to extend its winning streak to four Wednesday evening in a 2-1 loss to Belmont Abbey College.  The loss drops the Cobras record to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the CVAC.  The Crusaders improve to 8-5 overall and remain perfect at 7-0 in the conference.

Belmont Abbey’s Tracy Enloe slipped behind the Cobra defense and scored off a header to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.  Coker quickly tied the contest midway through the first half when freshmen Eva Olvera found the ball in between a slew of players and directed it home for her first tally of the season.  The score remained tied at one into the second half when Belmont Abbey’s Naomi Hernandez scored on a breakaway to give the Crusaders the lead for good.

Sophomore Jacque Stewart recorded three saves on seven shots in the loss.  Belmont Abbey’s Katherine Bogie faced five shots, also stopping three.
