Cobras Sweep Round Robin In Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC – Coker swept a round-robin against Peace and Meredith Colleges Saturday afternoon in collegiate volleyball.  Without the services of senior Frederica McClary, CC pulled together for a 3-1 win over Meredith and a 3-0 victory over Peace.  The Cobras improve to 5-3 on the season.

In its first match, Coker defeated Meredith 30-20, 30-21, 25-30, and 30-15.  Sophomore Andrea Manuel led the way with 15 kills and 13 digs, and was followed by freshman Amanda Reinert with 11 kills in her first collegiate match. Freshman Tara Nelson recorded 35 assists, nine digs and three service aces, and senior Selena Davis finished with 13 digs.

Against Peace, the Cobras cruised to a 30-26, 30-19, and 30-14 win.  Davis earned 16 kills and freshman Courtney Barton finished with a personal best 13 kills.  Manuel had 10 kills and 18 digs, and Nelson racked up another 41 assists and 14 digs.   

Coker climbs over .500 for the first time this year and hopes to keep rolling with a key home conference match-up against Barton College on Wednesday night at 6:30.
