Cobra Winning Streak Snapped
HARTSVILLE, SC – The Coker College volleyball team was unable to extend its winning streak to five Wednesday night suffering a 3-1 defeat to Barton College in women’s collegiate volleyball. The Cobras drop to 12-17 and 3-12 in the CVAC while the Bulldogs improve to 19-9 and 8-5 in conference.
After winning the first set 30-22, Coker appeared to have momentum on its side. Momentum quickly shifted to Barton as they went on to win the next three sets 30-17, 30-28, and 30-19. Coker nearly pulled off another miraculous comeback for the second consecutive day as they trailed 24-11 in set three. The Bulldogs however staved off the Cobra rally to win the set and gain complete control of the match.
Sophomore Andrea Manuel had 10 kills, 16 digs, and two block assists. Freshmen setter Tara Nelson contributed 35 assists, 10 digs, and three block assists. Senior Frederica McClary added 13 kills, six digs, and four block assists. Senior Selena Davis contributed seven kills, 13 digs, and a robust eight block assists.
Coker is back in action Friday, October 31st, when they host CVAC opponent Anderson College. Action is set to begin at 6:30 P.M.
