Coker Falls In Five Sets
ANDERSON, SC – Coker nearly ended its losing skid at Anderson Thursday night but fell 3-2 in five sets in collegiate volleyball. The Cobras took game one 30-23, dropped the next two 25-30, and 23-30, came back for a 30-18 game four win, and lost game five 15-12. Coker falls to 8-15 on the year and 2-10 in the conference.
The Cobras finally got back on track with inspired play from seniors Selena Davis, Frederica McClary, Jessica McKee, and Lindsey Bosckay. Davis finished with a team high 21 kills against only one error, 21 digs, four block solos and five block assists. McClary added 14 kills, McKee contributed 22 digs, and Bosckay played a strong match with seven kills, four service aces, seven digs, and three block solos.
Sophomore Andrea Manuel totaled 17 kills, 27 digs and two aces, and freshman setter Tara Nelson finished with 53 assists, 28 digs, five kills, and five blocks solo. Freshman Nicole Schaum added a team record 35 digs on the night. The previous record of 34 stood for 11 years and was held by Lisa Barbaro.
Coker takes the weekend off before a Monday night home match against CVAC rival Pfeiffer University at 6:30 PM.
