Cobras Drop First Game At Patriot Invitational
FLORENCE, SC – Coker lost its first game at the Patriot Invitational 7-6 to USC-Aiken Friday night in collegiate softball. The loss gives the Cobras their second loss of the season, as they now stand at 23-2 overall.
Coker matched the Pacers with nine hits but came up one run short in the game. Freshman Somer Bigham/Florence, SC took the loss, allowing eight hits and six earned runs despite 11 strikeouts.
Senior Sheritha McKenzie/Lake City, SC went 2-4 with two RBI and sophomore Amy Shelley/Marion, SC was also 2-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore Christian Morabito/Charlotte, NC hit her first homer of the season for Coker.
The Cobras will try to regroup on Saturday in the tournament with two more difficult games against Columbus State at 1:00 PM and North Florida at 5:00 PM.
