HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker swept Edinboro University 9-0 and 11-1 in its 13th and 14th games of the week Sunday afternoon in collegiate softball.  CC improves to 19-1 on the year while the Fighting Scots drop to 2-5. 

Senior Kaylene Fountain/Spokane, WA allowed only one hit and struck out five to get the win in game one.  The Cobras offense broke out with a three run first and scored six more in the third inning on 10 hits. 

Sophomore Jacque Stewart/Cumming, GA went 2-2 with a run scored and two RBI, and classmate Brandi Holder/Durham, NC went 2-3 with a run scored and one RBI.  Fountain recorded a double, three RBI and two runs scored, and sophomore Ashley Altman/Lake City, SC hit a triple, knocked in two runs and also scored once.

In game two the Cobras racked up 12 hits and rode a strong pitching effort by sophomore Amanda Shelton/Huntington Beach, CA.  Shelton went three innings with five strikeouts, four hits and one earned run allowed.  Freshman Somer Bigham/Florence, SC pitched the final two innings, striking out four and allowing zero hits.

Senior Sheritha McKenzie/Lake City, SC led the Coker offense with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored.  Stewart hit her first homerun of the season, drove in four runs and scored once.

The Cobras get a much deserved break before facing Fairmont on Wednesday, March 10, at 2:00 PM in Hartsville.
