Trojans Down Coker In Double-Header

MT. OLIVE, NC – Coker played a pair of games against Mt. Olive College Saturday, falling 3-1 and 3-0 to the Trojans in collegiate volleyball.  The Cobras drop their first conference game of the season and now stand at 5-6, 2-3, while MOC improves to 11-4 overall and 8-1 in the CVAC.

 

Coker played much better in the first match than in the second, falling 22-30, 35-33, 26-30, and 28-30.  In the second contest the Cobras didn’t have the same concentration and fell 18-30, 19-30, and 16-30. 

 

Junior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC finished with 13 kills and 24 digs in the first game and had seven kills in match two.  Freshman Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA contributed eight kills and five total blocks in the first match and classmate Megan Haupt/Summerville, SC totaled 15 kills on the day.  Sophomore Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI had 35 assists, 19 digs and five block assists in game one, but with the CC offense misfiring in the second match, Nelson totaled 22 assists.

 

The Cobras now have several days to prepare for a Homecoming Week visit from Barton College on Tuesday, September 28, at 6:00 PM.
