Coker Rolls Over Limestone 3-0
HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker continued its strong start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Limestone College Saturday evening in women’s collegiate volleyball. The Cobras improve to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the CVAC, while Limestone drops to 4-4, 0-2 in conference.
Coker remained calm during a quick start from the Saints in set one and pulled away for a 30-21 win. In the second set the Cobras pounded LC for a 30-14 victory, and held off LC in the third for another 30-21 win. Limestone’s strong defense and tipping attack caused Coker some problems at first but they continued to pound away and eventually found the open spaces on the court.
Freshman Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA led with 13 kills and 10 blocks and junior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC contributed nine kills, including the match winner, six digs, and three aces.
Freshman Jessica Norton/Rochester, MI had eight kills, and sophomore Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI finished with 35 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Ashley Schaum/Irmo, SC, and freshman Natalie Schembra/Hilton Head, SC contributed 11 and seven digs respectively.
Coker will next face Newberry College at home this Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30 PM.
