Coker Pulls Out 3-2 Win
GAFFNEY, SC – Coker got a scare at Limestone Tuesday night before pulling out a 3-2 victory in women’s collegiate volleyball. The Cobras won the first two sets, lost the next two, and pulled out the fifth set for the win. CC improves to 7-8, 3-5 in the CVAC, while the Saints drop to 7-15, 1-12 in the conference.
Coker won the first set 31-29, but cruised in the second to a 30-17 win. LC rallied for a 30-20 win in the third held on for a 30-28 win in the fourth. The Cobras regained their composure in the fifth and ended it with a 15-11 victory.
Junior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC claimed 22 kills and 17 digs for CC and freshman middle Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA collected 12 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI had 54 assists, 20 digs and five blocks and classmate Courtney Barton tallied 10 kills. Sophomore Ashley Schaum/Irmo, SC contributed 15 digs and freshman Natalie Schembra/Hilton Head, SC added 12 digs.
Coker hits the road again on Thursday, October 14 for a 6:30 PM match at Anderson College.
