Coker Defeated 3-1 At Anderson

ANDERSON, SC – Coker’s upset bid came up short at Anderson in a 3-1 collegiate volleyball loss.  CC stands at 9-11, and 3-7 in the CVAC, while the Trojans improve to 16-7, 5-4 in the conference.

 

After dropping the first set 14-30, the Cobras bounced back for a 30-24 win in the second game.  Coker had a chance to really put the pressure on AC in the third set but lost 30-32 and fell again in the fourth 24-30.

 

Freshmen Megan Haupt/Summerville, SC and Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA both had 15 kills and Madison also added four blocks and three aces.  Junior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC tallied 10 kills and 18 digs, and sophomore Ashley Schaum/Irmo, SC racked up a team-best 25 digs.  Setter Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI had 46 assists, 22 digs and two aces. 

 

Ryan Johnson was Anderson’s kills leader with 12, and Maggie Irvin led the Anderson defense with 21 kills. Mindy Salley had 28 assists and Betsy Fisher had 11 kills and 24 assists for Anderson.

 

Coker has a quick turnaround now, hosting Meredith and Peace at 4:00 and 6:30 PM on Friday, October 15.
