Coker Can't Overcome Trojans

Anderson, SC – Coker College dropped a 76-69 decision to Anderson College Monday evening in women’s collegiate basketball.  The Cobras and Trojans were fairly even in most aspects of the contest but the game was decided at the foul line, where AC connected on 25-29 attempts.  Coker slips to 8-9 and 6-5 in the CVAC, while the Trojans improve to 10-8, and 7-4 in the conference.

Both teams shot the ball poorly in the game, as the Cobras shot 38 percent from the field compared to 34 percent by Anderson. The shooting from behind the arc was even worse as CC was 3-11 and the Trojans were 5-22.  The only shots that either team hit with regularity were from the foul line. Coker hit 18-23 shots while Anderson hit a remarkable 86 percent.

Junior Leanne Chandler recorded her third straight double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds and  hit her first three-pointer of the year.  Freshman Justina Dakins turned in a solid all-around performance with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals before fouling out late in the contest.

Leann Segars led four AC players in double figures with 20 points. Michelle Fleck scored 12 points and Kelly Latham added 11.  Deanna Thompson finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes.
