Cobras Drop First To Barton

Wilson, NC – Coker dropped its first match of the season 2-1 at Barton Saturday afternoon in women’s collegiate soccer.  CC falls to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the CVAC, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-5, 1-1 in conference.

Barton went on top first in the 29th minute on a free kick by Rachel Culver.  Freshman Rose Fernandez equalized six minutes later when she found some open space through the Bulldog defense and smashed a hard shot into the back of the net.

The game winner came in the 65th minute from eight yards out.  Brittany Kopp found Brandi Cuffee in front of the goal and she blasted the ball past keeper Jacque Stewart.

Stewart made 10 saves in the game, while her counterpart, Ashley Ross recorded eight.

The Cobras will travel to NCAA Division I South Carolina State this Wednesday, September 24, at 5:00 PM.
