Cobras Fall At Erskine
Due West, SC -- Coker was defeated 1-0 at Erskine Friday night in women's collegiate soccer. The Cobras drop to 1-1 overall and in the CVAC, while the Flying Fleet improves to 3-3, 2-1 in the conference.
Freshman Jaclyn Harris scored her seventh goal of the season just five minutes into the game to put EC up 1-0. The score was all Erskine needed in the end, as the Fleet put up a stubborn defense for the rest of the game to pick up the shutout win.
Coker could never get its offense going, managing only six shots to Erskine's 12. The Cobras took only three corner kicks on the night, six short of the Fleet's nine attempts. Senior keeper Elizabeth Hicks started in goal for Coker and made seven saves in the match.
The Cobras will try to bounce back from Friday's defeat next Tuesday, September 18, at CVAC rival Barton College. The match is scheduled for a 4 PM start.
