Cobras Defeated At Barton

Wilson, NC -- Coker was defeated 3-2 by conference power Barton in sudden death overtime Tuesday night in women's collegiate soccer. The Cobras drop to 1-2 overall and in the CVAC, while the Bulldogs now move to 4-0-1,and 2-0-1 in the conference.

Coker went into the match aware of Barton's regional ranking but remained undaunted on the Bulldogs field. BC went into the half leading 1-0 and pushed their lead to 2-0 midway through the second period.

The Cobras then began their comeback late in the game, when freshman Erin Blevins scored to put the team back within striking distance. With 53 seconds remaining in the game, sophomore Toni Crowell headed the equalizing goal in the back of the net to send the match to overtime. Barton then came back in the first overtime to put the Cobras away with the game-winning strike coming in the 8th minute.

Coker now travels out of conference to face in-state foe USC-Aiken this Thursday, September 20, at 7 PM.
