Cobras Fall Narrowly In Defeat
Hartsville, SC
-- Coker battled for 90 minutes but came up short, losing 1-0 to Pfieffer Tuesday night in women's collegiate soccer. The Cobras are now 5-11-1, and 2-8 in the conference, while Pfeiffer improves to 10-5-1 and 8-2 in the CVAC.Pfeiffer controlled the match and maintained possession for much of the match. The Cobras were unable to create any chances until the last few minutes of the match but it proved to be too late. Despite out shooting Coker by a margin of 18-1 the Falcons could not find the mark and the game remained tied at 0-0 with only 10 minutes to play.
But in the 91st minute PU got the game-winner. Nicole Baird sent a cross in from the left side that substitute Elizabeth Hall trapped and slipped by the keeper into the net. Senior Amy Kessler played a great match in goal for the Cobras with 13 saves in 90 minutes of action, but couldn't quite make it to the shot from Hall.
Coker will face conference-leading Belmont-Abbey in their final match of the year this Friday, October 26 at home at 5 PM.
