Cobras Come Back But Fall Just Short, 3-2

Hartsville, SC -- Coker came back from down 3-0 and almost tied the game but came up just short, falling 3-2 to Lees-McRae in women's collegiate soccer. The Cobras drop now to 5-10-1, and 2-7 in the conference.

The Bobcats got two goals in the first from Adrienne Sansing and added a third in the second period from Heather Sakaduski to open up a 3-0 margin with only 29 minutes to play in the game. But Coker came storming back with two goals in the span of three minutes to put LMC in a state of panic.

The Cobras first goal came in the 74th minute after a penalty shot was awarded on a poor tackle in the box. Junior Cara Wilkerson stepped up to the spot and fired her shot past the keeper and CC was down 3-1. Three minutes later Coker stormed down the field again with numbers and sophomore Brandi Bibby found classmate Kristie Lowe who put the ball in the back of the net. Lowe almost picked up the equalizer a few minutes later but her shot was just wide of the goal.

Senior Amy Kessler returned to action tonight and played the full 90 minutes in goal, making nine saves on 15 shots. The Bobcats also held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks over CC.

Coker will next face Pfeiffer in Hartsville Tuesday, October 23 at 7 PM.
