Coker Falls 75-55 At Tournament

Wingate, NC - Coker went down 75-55 to Winston-Salem State in its second game of the Miller Orthopaedic Clinic Invitational at Wingate University Saturday afternoon in women's collegiate basketball. With the loss CC drops to 0-7 while WSSU moves to 5-5.

Winston-Salem State outscored Coker by 10 points in each period, leading 28-18 at the half. The Cobras shot nearly 50 percent after the break but only 25 percent in the first frame. Coker was able to out-rebound the Rams 38-37 but turned the ball over 26 times to WSSU's 16.

Sophomore Leanne Chandler led Coker with 14 points and four rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament team. Classmate Selena Davis finished with eight points and eight rebounds and sophomore Frederica McClary scored nine points to go with six rebounds and two blocks.

The Cobras are now off for the Christmas break and will next be in action Thursday, January 10, against Erskine. Tip off is set for 5:30 in Timberlake-Lawton Gym.
