Cobras Defeated 62-51
Hartsville, SC - A scoring drought at the start of the second half did in Coker Saturday evening, as the Cobras fell 62-51 to Pfeiffer in women's collegiate basketball. The Cobras drop to 2-16 overall and 2-11 in the CVAC while PU moves to 13-5 and 10-2 in the conference.
Coker opened the game with a fast pace and matched baskets with the Falcons throughout the first half, and trailed 35-30 at the break. The Cobras got offensive output from several sources in the half, with five players scoring five or more points.
Coker struggled when they came back out and scored only 10 points in the first 15 minutes of play. CC trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half before they were able to narrow the gap. The Cobras got within nine but it was too late by then.
Sophomore Chanda Brooker led Coker with 11 points and junior Lou Brunson added 10 points and six rebounds. Sophomore CC Shipmon contributed nine points and five assists, and classmate Frederica McClary scored six points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Coker will prepare now for a trip to Erskine College, where the Cobras will face the Flying Fleet this Monday, February 4, at 5:30 PM.
