Coker Defeated At Pfeiffer
Misenheimer, NC - Coker fell 70-45 to Pfeiffer in its conference opener Wednesday night in women's collegiate basketball. The Cobras struggled from the field, shooting 30 percent for the game and were out-rebounded 50-31. Coker now stands at 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in the CVAC while Pfeiffer improves to 3-2 and 1-0 in conference.
After a slow start the put the Cobras down 36-19 at the break, CC attacked the basket more in the second period to get to the foul line. Coker didn't attempt a free throw in the first half but made it to the charity stripe 17 times after halftime. The Cobras were never able to get back into the game, however, as the Falcons controlled the boards and forced 20 Coker turnovers.
Sophomore CC Shipmon turned in a solid effort, scoring 10 points to go with three rebounds and two steals. Her Classmate Shamae Hemingway finished with eight points and led the team in rebounds with five, assists with three, and steals with three.
The Cobras return to action this Saturday, December 1 at home against St. Paul's College. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 tip off in Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
