Cobras Defeated 75-55

Hartsville, SC - Coker played another good first half but a long second-half dry spell gave Lees McRae a 75-55 victory in women's collegiate basketball. CC out rebounded the Bobcats 40-34 but again had trouble handling the ball, coughing it up 24 times. Coker drops to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in the CVAC while LMC improves to 9-5 and 7-1 in conference.

Coker got down early after Lees McRae opened the game with an 8-0 run. The Cobras came back during the half behind 12 points from sophomore Selena Davis, but the Bobcats ran the lead to 40-32 by the break. CC came out and played well in the first 10 minutes after halftime and narrowed the Bobcats lead to 51-47 with 9:35 to play. However, the Cobras went ice cold and LMC went on to a 24-2 run that left CC trailing 75-49 with 2:16 to play.

Davis finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead Coker. Sophomore Leanne Chandler had 10 points and nine boards, and classmate Frederica McClary totaled eight points and six rebounds.

Coker next travels to Farmville, VA to face Longwood College Thursday, January 24, at 5:30 PM.
