Cobras Win At Limestone

Gaffney, SC - Coker snapped a seven-game losing streak Monday night with a 60-55 conference win at Limestone in women's collegiate basketball. The Cobras forced 17 turnovers and improved their foul shooting to make the difference in a close game. With the win CC improves to 2-14 overall and 2-9 in the CVAC, while the Saints drop to 6-11 and 2-9 in the conference.

The Cobras actually trailed at the break 31-29 but outscored LC by seven in the second half to get the win. Coker made the difference up by attacking the basket in the second period to get to the foul line, where they made 14-19 free throws. The Cobras were much improved over Saturday's 64-60 loss to St. Andrews, when 50 percent shooting from the line cost them in a tight game.

Sophomore Selena Davis led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Leanne Chandler finished with 10 points and five rebounds and sophomore Frederica McClary totaled nine points, six rebounds and three blocks. Freshman Brittany Campbell had nine points, four rebounds and three steals, and junior Lou Brunson grabbed six rebounds to go with her six points.

Coker next plays this Thursday, January 31. Coker travels to Anderson College to take on the Trojans at 5:30 PM.
