Cobras Edged By St. Andrews

HARTSVILLE, SC – The Coker College Men’s collegiate soccer team was outlasted by St Andrews College 3-1 Wednesday evening.  Coker tied the score at 1-1 midway through the contest.  The Cobras couldn’t account for two unanswered goals by the Knights later on in the contest which proved to be the overall difference.  CC drops to 0-6-1 on the season, while St Andrews improves to 4-4.

The Knights got on the board first in the 8th minute on a goal from Jon Budney.  The score remained 1-1 until the 54th minute when Coker answered back on a tally from Gibson Baafour.  Baafour was assisted beautifully by freshman Sean Maupin.

The Knights went back ahead for good in the 66th minute on a goal by Jesse Nava.  Budney added another tally in the 81st minute which ended any hopes of a Cobra comeback.  Sophomore Aaron Osteen contributed a solid effort in goal recording five saves.

The Cobras travel to CVAC rival Barton College this Saturday, September 20.  Action is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
