Coker Overmatched At Queens

CHARLOTTE, NC – A promising first half against heavily favored Queens University of Charlotte was no indication of the outcome as the Cobras fell 5-1 to Queens University in men’s collegiate soccer.  The loss drops the Cobras record to 1-12-1 on the season while the Royals improve to 12-2.

Senior Dan Hargis got Coker started early, scoring an unassisted goal in the 23-minute mark of the first half.  Queens responded quickly in the 29th minute as Troy Meisner tied the contest.  The Cobras continued to scrap and battle throughout the first half and headed into the locker room tied at one.

The Royals took a quick 2-1 lead in the first minute of the second half on a goal by Matt Herbstritt and never looked back.  With momentum on their side, the Royals scored three more times for a total of five unanswered goals.  Herbstritt finished the contest with three goals and an assist.  Overall the Cobras were outshot 30-10 and were unable to hang with the second half surge of the Royals.

The Cobras are idle until Saturday, November 1st, when they host CVAC rival Mt. Olive College.  Action is set to begin at 3:30 P.M.
