Host Trojans Defeat Coker At Pickle Classic
Mount Olive, NC - The Mount Olive College Trojans picked away at Coker College and ran away with the 90-76 victory in the second game of the Mount Olive Pickle Classic Friday night in men's collegiate basketball. The Trojans were impressive with five players in double figures.
Marcus West led all scorers with 19 points, and he added 13 rebounds with four steals and two blocks. Dameion Baker had 16 points with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in a well-rounded effort. Maurice Horton totaled 12 points in only 13 minutes, while red-shirt freshman Victor Young and Johnny Galarza each added ten points. Young also had six steals, three rebounds and two assists. All 13 Trojans that played grabbed at least one rebound.
Senior Derrall Beason had 19 points for Coker, while junior Charlie Ludwig had 14 points and six rebounds in his first game as a Cobra. Senior LaDerek Snell was also impressive with 10 points and four assists.
Davis & Elkins takes on Coker at 4:00 PM in the consolation match tomorrow,
and Mount Olive takes on Charleston at 6:00 PM for the Championship.
