Cobras Drop Home Opener
Hartsville, SC – Coker College struggled offensively on their way to an 82-51 defeat to Pfeiffer University Monday evening in men’s collegiate basketball. The Cobras turned the ball over 23 times against an aggressive Pfeiffer defense. Coker drops to 1-3 and 0-1 in the CVAC, while PU improves to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
Coker managed only 19 points in the first half and trailed by 20 at the break as the Falcons implemented a full-court press defense for the entire period. The Cobras responded a little better in the second stanza and made better decisions against the pressure.
Sophomore guard Ryan Queen was the high scorer for CC with nine points, and was followed by junior Charlie Ludwig and senior Derrick Hilton with eight points a piece. Sophomore Terry Whitaker finished with seven points and six rebounds.
Raymond McKeithan led Pfeiffer with 16 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks and Kenny Mickens totaled 15 points.
The Cobras have more than a week off now and will prepare for a December 10 match up with region rival Francis Marion at 7:30 PM in Hartsville.
