Coker Can't Keep Up With Trojans
Mt. Olive, NC – Coker College fell 97-59 to high-scoring Mt. Olive Saturday afternoon in men’s collegiate basketball. The Cobras drop to 5-15 on the year and 3-12 in the CVAC, while the Trojans improve to 16-6 and 11-4 in the conference.
Coker couldn’t compete with the high-flying Trojans, who put up 56 points in the second half. MOC shot 46 percent for the game and limited the Cobras to 37 percent shooting. The Cobras were also out-rebounded 55-27 by Mt. Olive’s larger front court.
A gimpy Derrall Beason, still recovering from an ankle injury a week ago, led Coker with 14 points and was the only Cobra to reach double-figures. Senior Dominic Serafini scored eight points in 15 minutes.
Marcus West led MOC with 21 points and 10 boards and was 9-10 from the line. Janson Greene scored 15 points, Johnny Galarza added 14, and Damieon Baker contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.
Coker next hosts Barton College this Monday, February 17, at 7:30 PM.
