Coker Can't Overcome Lees-McRae
Banner Elk, NC – Coker College fell 79-69 Tuesday night in a tough road contest at Lees-McRae in men’s collegiate basketball. The Cobras slip to 5-14 on the year and 3-11 in the CVAC, while the Bobcats improve to 2-22 and 1-13 in the conference.
The Cobras were outmanned in Banner Elk, with leading scorer Derrall Beason out of the game due to injury. LMC did Coker in behind the arc, where they scored 42 points on 47 percent shooting.
Senior Derrick Hilton led the way with 18 points, five assists and four steals, and junior Quentin Demeritte added 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior Dominic Serafini scored 12 points on 6-8 shooting.
Tommy Vellacott led all scorers with 25 points and received plenty of help form Milos Dimitrijevic, who added 18 points and six assists. Shawn Zellers recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.
Coker will next travel to Mt. Olive this Saturday, February 15, for a 4:00 PM tip-off.
