Cobras Fall At Erskine
Due West, SC – Coker College dropped a 62-47 decision at Erskine College Thursday night in men’s collegiate basketball. Erskine connected on 16-18 foul shots in the game to help stave off a late Cobra rally. Coker falls to 2-5 on the year and 0-2 in the CVAC, while the Flying Fleet improves to 4-3, and 2-0 in conference.
After taking an early advantage the Cobras faltered and EC raced to a 34-22 halftime lead. Erskine eventually built a 46-27 lead in the second half and a come-back attempt by the Cobras could only cut the margin to eight points with 6:47 to play.
The Fleet shot an impressive 50 percent from the floor and capitalized on CC’s miscues, converting 13 turnovers into 23 points. Erskine used balanced scoring to gain the victory, with four players scoring nine or more points.
Coker senior Derrall Beason led all scorers with 22 points. Junior Charlie Ludwig tallied seven points and five rebounds, as no other Cobra scored in double digits.
Coker will take on Queens University of Charlotte this Saturday, January 11 in Charlotte. The contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM tip off, following the women’s game.
