Crusaders Overwhelm Cobras
Hartsville, SC – Coker College fell behind 17-0 to start their game against Belmont Abbey and never recovered in an 83-65 loss Monday night in men’s collegiate basketball. The two teams were fairly even in most statistical categories, but the Crusaders out-rebounded CC 52-23 to make the 18 point final advantage. Coker drops to 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the CVAC, while the Abbey improves to 11-3, and 5-2 in the conference.
Shaun Taylor opened the game with a three pointer and the run was on, as BAC scored 17 unanswered and nearly ended the game before it began. Junior Charlie Ludwig stopped the bleeding at the 12:28 mark with a pair of free throws to finally put his team on the board. The Abbey cruised after their fast start and took a 39-19 lead into the break.
After a few half time adjustments the two teams returned to the floor and CC finally created some easy buckets. The Cobras actually outscored Belmont Abbey 46-44 in the second period and cut the lead to 12 points with 7:32 to play. The Crusaders reinserted their top five players and cut the Coker rally before it became too dangerous.

The Abbey’s Rafael Moreia led all scorers with 23 points to go along with nine rebounds and three assists.
