To be considered
for admission to Coker College as a freshman, the following items
are needed:

If
you are considering applying to Coker, you may be wondering how
the Admissions Committee evaluates applications. As each application
is reviewed, the committee looks to see if the applicant is a right
match with Coker. The committee uses the following criteria, in
order of importance, to
determine admission.

Closer Look
The
Admissions Committee seeks students who have been successful in
a challenging college preparatory curriculum. The majority of successful
applicants have completed the following courses:
Required:
- 4 units of college preparatory English,
preferably courses that emphasize writing
-
3 units of mathematics
that include Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II
-
2 units of science
with 1 lab unit
-
2 units of a foreign
language
-
3 units of social
sciences

Advanced
Credit
Applicants who score a 3 or better on examinations of the Advanced
Placement Program may be eligible to receive college credit at Coker.
Credit is also awarded for appropriate scores on International Baccalaureate
course examinations for students who earned an IB diploma. Up to 18
semester hours of credit may be awarded for scores of 4 or better
on the higher level IB exams. The registrar will evaluate AP and IB
exam scores upon receipt of the student's final high school transcript. |

Options
Coker
offers several options for making your application. Applications
are accepted as early as May 1 of a student's junior year and as
late as August 1 after graduation from high school, as long as space
permits. Applying early not only eliminates the hassle of applying
to schools during the busy senior year, but it also has many other
benefits. Take a look at the options and see which best suits your
needs.
