The Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center
The Elizabeth
Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center opened for classes
in 1997 at a cost of $6.5 million. The 40,000 square foot
Center has forever changed the cultural and educational
landscape of Coker College and South Carolina by providing
an unmatched facility for the visual, performing and media
arts benefits students and audiences alike.
The
Center is one of the most advanced facilities of its kind
in the nation. It serves as a community resource for a
wide range of educational and cultural events, including
the professional events of the Coker College Performing
Arts Series, while also housing the College's
Department
of Dance, Music and Theater and
providing facilities for the Communication
program.
Coker
College upholds and defends the intellectual and artistic
freedom of its faculty and students as they study and
create art and live performances that explore the full
spectrum of human experience. The College considers such
pursuits central to the spirit of inquiry and thoughtful
discussion at the heart of a liberal arts education.
